24 Pounds, 3 Ounces
Sean, Eden and I have been playing in the REI tree fort lately. We went the week of her birthday and more recently on Halloween night. The latter was a great time. Most days kids flood the tree fort and slide. On Halloween, however, we had the place to ourselves. Eden donned her pumpkin suit made from an old patagonia fleece. The vest was put on backwards and zipped up the back keeping Eden cozy. Those are duct tape eyes, nose, and mouth. One of the REI employees commented that her costume was one of the most ingenious he had ever seen. I beamed and so did Eden.
When Sean found this giant pumpkin at PCC, he said, "it's just fun to cart it around with Eden in the store." I must have had dejavu because a flash of the above image crossed my mind. I thought, "yep, Eden is going to find herself inside that thing someday soon."
While Eden was in her pumpkin suit and every trip outside thereafter, she'd point out all the pumpkins to me. When I call her pumpkin she seems to make a connection....yeah, I am a pumpkin and those are pumpkins too. I will likely add confusion when I start wearing my orange vest again. Does that mean that Mommy is a pumpkin too?
In this video Eden is walking over to our electric fireplace and looking at her reflection in the glass. (Anyone who has hung out for long with Eden knows she enjoys mirror play. This may have started with Omi's fun introduction to mirrors last Christmas.) She continues to talk to her baby. We often point to baby's nose, head, ears, and eyes then subsequently to Edens nose, head, ears and eyes then to mine. You get the idea. Baby is a good source of expression for all of us.

This is a photo taken this weekend. We hiked up Tiger Mountain near Issaqua and caught a glimpse of winter. We went up the trail like a bunch of excited kids laughing at our good fortune to be in nature and came down singing "It's Raining It's Pouring" laughing at how fast denim soaks up water. Eden, layered with everything we had in the bag, got back to the car happy and dry. I recommend starting with a base layer of bamboo coordinates and then fleece and then GoreTex on top of that =).
